Dear Valley School Families and Faculty,
After a long summer of hard work, the position description (PD) for the new head of school is finally ready for distribution. It is attached as a PDF to this message, it is also available from the web site that we have setup for the search:

We now enter the second phase of our search, building the applicant pool. During this phase we need to attract the attention of the person who we want to lead our school. We are posting our announcement at colleges and schools where our next head is likely to be found and are putting our notice online. There is no telling where we will find the visionary leader that we seek. So we must get the word out broadly.
We are asking for your help. Please, if you know someone (or know someone who is likely to know someone) who would make a good candidate, please send them our PD or point them to our search web site.
According to the timeline that we announced in July, we expected to have the position description ready for distribution by July 15th. It has taken us much longer to come up with a document that we feel comfortable distributing, however we feel that the results are well worth the wait. We now have a document that fairly represents the school and that will intrigue the kinds of applicants that we seek.
Since our last update letter in July, two people have joined the search committee. Suzanne Coleman who will provide the committee with a faculty perspective and Susan Lammers who will provide a parent perspective.
